I use a India stone and the a Black Hard Arkansas for the finishing touch. I just got the LOCK-JAW T-1230_HNDL and am still learning how to use it one thing I really like about it is it really keeps the curved blade in place and it does not slip out.
Probably one of the neatest knife hacks is the Tandy Leather Flat-Side awl haft that actually holds the curve stub knife blade and the replacement curved blades that you can purchase for several different resources.
